Euro Park Sainsburys HELP!

Options
Hi everyone,

I work 2mins walk away from Sainsbury's and have been parking there for 2.5 years without ever getting a ticket. However, they have recently switched their car parking to Euro Parks and I have just received a letter in the post with a fine for £70.

I overstayed the 2.5hour limit by 3.5 hours.

I had been on holiday for a fortnight when this change was made and this letter that has arrived today which dates back to my first day back at work.

I have been parking there daily for the past 2 weeks - so I'm very worried that I am now going to receive a further 10 parking charge letters. Most probably amounting to £700.

Yes I was wrong to park there daily, however after not receiving any parking charges for 2.5 years - would you do the same? Please don't judge me!! ;)

Can anyone help me with this and tell me what my options are?

I really appreciate your help in this matter..

The help you ask for is all in the newbies faq thread at the top of the forum

(You could well get 10 more tickets - deal with each one separately)

    It is not a fine.

    You shouldn't park there again.

Please read the Sticky thread for NEWBIES then appeal using one of the template letters you will find there. I can't tell you which to use as you have not given the correct name of the parking company. There are several with similar names, so please tell us which one it is as the advice will vary depending which one it is.

Yes, I agree - I will not park there again.

The car park is called Euro Car Parks and my reg was caught on camera when entering and exiting the car park.

    Thanks in advance

BPA members, so send the BPA template in blue from the NEWBIES thread. You will need to read the relevant parts of the NEWBIES several times.
If/when your initial appeal is rejected, you will need to make a seond stage appeal via PoPLA.
Your PoPLA code should come with your rejection from the PPC. If it doesn't, then you need to complain to the BPA.

The NEWBIES also explains why it is safe to ignore debt collectors.

This advice is for events or residents of England or Wales. Advice for elsewhere differs, but is explained in the NEWBIES.

  • Thank you, would you recommend complaining to Sainsbury's first? If so, is there a template I can read to help with this?

Send your appeal in along the time lines in the FAQ for when to appeal

Start on Sainsbury now, but if you get 10 more charges they aren't going to be inclined to support you blocking spaces to park for work - more like confirm to them they made the right decision taking them on to stop people like you!

(Unless you can show them your receipts for all the shopping you parked up to do!!)

There's no template for expressing your disgust at them - write your own letter

Probably not if you've been using their site as your own car park. I'd leave that option if you were there hours!

But as for appealing this and any others you get, make sure you appeal them all online as you get them in the post. All can be the same template from the NEWBIES thread - the one in blue writing which does NOT have to be copied here (please no more 'is it this one?' posts...yes, the one in blue!).

Do not park there again, it's people like you who actually cause this scam industry to exist, you are supporting their myth of an intrinsic 'rogue parker' which does not really exist in most people. Don't be that rogue parker person!

  • I do actually have receipts for shopping, as I go there daily at lunchtime to purchase my lunch and I've also done the majority of my Christmas and food shopping there. I didn't just park there for the "free" parking!

It's also never full with hundreds of spaces, so I wasn't blocking other shoppers.

Which is why I was wondering whether to complain or not..

Thanks for the advice about which template to use and to appeal online.

You might try a complaint if you have a large receipt that matches the date on one. Be a bit vague about whether you 'left then returned' and be 'surprised' about the ANPR timings...see if you can get a few cancelled that way, which takes the POPLA pressure off.

Choose a different CS staff member and only ask about one PCN, per staff member.
