Yes -- Opera is still available. As are Chrome and Firefox, amongst others.

Use whichever one you like. People tend to either love or hate Opera, but technically it's a good product.

The safest place to download software would be directly from the software provider's website.

I switched from Chrome to Opera a while back having previously used Opera. Happier with it this time and will be sticking with it.

I finally moved from IE , after many years , tried chrome , firefox etc etc , ended up using slimjet

set up just like my old ie , with favourites down the left , seems quick enough, does not crash

I have Opera on all my devices, far superior to Chrome in my opinion....less of a RAM hog for a start....even though it is actually based on Chrome.
Note,if using a mobile device there are a number of different versions of Opera

    thanks all!!

I have internet explorer at the moment - but thought opera was better when I used it previously.

    may consider slimjet.

    happy Christmas one and all!!
  • The latest version of Opera is based on Chrome; I find it as slow as Chrome especially at loading new pages, but once the page is lowered it's okay.

The old version of Opera (12.18 with the Presto engine) is still available but some sites don't support it (and a few actually block it, eg Screwfix). In my experience it's a lot faster.

I rather like the free inbuilt VPN in Opera. I still keep other browsers on my machines though for the occasions where a website has an issue with Opera or one of my plugins. My first port of call if I have an issue is to try with the VPN off (one click) then Ghostery (another click). Sometimes it's Opera's inbuilt adblocker that they object to.

I had a look at the Ghostery extension in Opera and someone has posted that it is now defunct and corrupt. Are they right or wrong?
