    You could see if there is a Ramblers group close by, that's what I did last year and I get out with them at least twice a week. Not so much for the challenge but the company on walks is great and makes the time pass a lot quicker.

    Week 4 quick update: just a shade under target this week, 37.1 miles, so a total of 165 walked against a target of 154. Next week might be a bit under as well, I have a major work thing so a lot less control over my time though will do my best but not gonna stress it! Might do a January update if I get a chance, given it's a long month my target is 170 miles so fingers crossed I should do it!

    So far I got to walk way more than expected so 18.5 miles this week so far making a Jan total of ..... 183.5, comfortably ahead of my 170 target. Next few days might be trickier though! Here's to a good Feb for us all.

    Fitbit weekly report in and I have 43.99 miles clocked up for last week.

    That gives me a total of 129.88 miles.

    I only started recording miles walked half way through January so next month should be better.

    Did do a couple of 15 mile walks with over 1000m of climbing in but sadly I am not measuring those.

    My January 2017 result using Google fit on my Huawei P9 lite smart phone.

    I only achieved 90% of my January step target. There are no excuses.

    BUT contex, my 2017 step target is to match my 2016 years average which was 31% above my 2015 numbers.
    Looking in the mirror I say "one poor month does not mean all is lost"

    Welcome to the thread Mallygirl. My take is it is about getting out and getting exercise. We all have different lifestyles and some have health issues, so whatever you do is good:beer:.

    January finished at 139, which is 22 short of target:eek:. Finished really badly as Monday and Tuesday were spent travelling to and from Norfolk for a funeral, which was held over two days. I did try on Monday evening to go for a walk but realised within 100 yards that pitch black and virtually no pavement showed commitment but little sense of self-preservation:rotfl:.

    Coming back there were three diversions and an eleven mile tailback to detour round. 8 hours Norwich to Runcorn:(.

    Yesterday I sprained my ankle; still I will borrow gfplux's little mantra of 'one poor month does not mean all is lost'.

    My total for January was 188 miles but of course it is a long month, hopefully I will keep it up in Feb :)

    Week 5 update. Hurrah! On my very busy work trip I connected with colleagues who also wanted to walk and whilst others got taxis we went on foot! So 44.5 miles last week against a target of 38.5. I also slept and felt better than I usually do on a work trip! 210 miles now in total - over 10% of the way for the year.

    233 floors too (walking on hills a lot!).

    Hope everyone else has good things to report :)

    Another week down, I am at 539,402 steps 1880 floors 235 miles and 95,921 calories burned. The evenings are already getting lighter so more daylight hours to get my steps in.
