hi
i would like to inform the bank of a large transaction regarding my current account in orded to avoid the account being frozen by anti money laundering software.
i don't want to speak to a callcentre. does anyone know if it is still possible
to request a call back from the hsbc branch manager or is this a thing of the past?
thanks

Some banks have a message facility online. Why don't you register for online banking and then send messages in future when you want to get in touch (assuming your bank has m messaging facility)?0

You cannot override their systems it is completely automated. If they decide to flag it, then nothing you do beforehand will stop it being flagged. If you are really worried then paying by cheque is the best option believe it or not!0

last house sale the solicitor offered to pay electronically for a charge of about £10, I know its a bit cheapskate but as HSBC is just across town I got him to give me a cheque and paid it in.
Branch accepted it just commenting "Oh thats a nice big cheque" but later on I got a phone call at home saying manager was concerned, they had checked my account opening info and looked at my application and wanted to know what cheque was for.
I presume they will do this before they just freeze your account. My problem was I had only been with them 3 months, when we purchased the house we were with Nat West, so HSBC never saw the funds coming out, just the sale funds going in after the refurbished house sold.
Once I explained it they were fine.Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0 -
Branch managers have no powers over the number and size of transactions customers are allowed. They might agree to be your messenger and pass your request to a central team. You might as well put your request straight to CS yourself, to save time, and potential misunderstandigs.0
