My ex stole my identity for a credit card!

I have an update! And it's good news! Although I pleaded with Capital One and complained to the ombudsman, they just wouldn't accept my claim of fraud. It was only when the police got involved that they began to accept it.
The police (eventually) caught my ex, searched his flat, found the card AND bills he stole from my house and arrested him! Yay. I'm still to find out how he will be prosecuted. He may just get a caution, but hopefully it might stop him doing it to any more girlfriends/sponge-ees? I hope so, anyway.
The best news for me is that it has been removed from my credit report and I have now been accepted for an interest free credit card! This will remove much of the debt which was caused from him damaging my credit rating so much (I unfortunately had to buy a car at the same time that he did all this, and was forced to get a loan with ridiculously high interest because of my credit rating). Just paying this off with my amended credit rating has already saved me £1300 in interest alone! Interest that he caused, but still! It could have been much worse. I found out that he conned his previous ex out of so much more but she didn't report it!
So, to anyone who reads this and finds themselves in a similar situation - report it! Don't let them get away with it and please make sure you tell your local police as well as Action Fraud. I'm glad I stuck with it instead of just paying it off now, as it would have damaged my rating for 6 years. Also, disgusting people like this need to be stopped!
Thanks again for everybody's advice and support.0 -

Fantastic, I'm so glad he has his comeuppance and you've managed to lower your interest on the loan. Karma baby :-)
Well done for the persistence to see it through!!
And yes, thanks for the update - hopefully this will help other people in the future in case they suffer a similar stroke of bad luck.
