transfer credit limit to another and close account

I have 2 barclaycards and i want to close one card and transfer the limit to the other barclaycard.

i was advised by an adviser that i can do this, but now they are saying i cant because they recently increased my limit on the card i want to keep open. The adviser who suggested that i close the account and transfer the limit was aware of the recent increase.

if i keep both account open i will still have say have the culmative limit so i dont see what the issue now about transfering the limit and closing one account

has any one else had this ?

Well if they won't do as you want - keep both open and then you have the combined limits or am I missing something?

I tried to do something similar with Tesco CC's.

I had an old Tesco CC with a £6K credit limit and applied for a Tesco no fee BT card, but they would only give me a credit limit of £2K on my new card.

When I found out the new limit was so much lower, I requested to close the old CC and transfer the credit limit to the new one, but they refused. I even suggested closing my old CC and just increasing the new CC credit limit to £4K which would mean I only had a credit limit with Tesco of £4K instead of a limit of £8K across both cards, but they stiill weren't interested.
