interest on my credit card bill cant be right???

i recieved my barclaycard bill the other day and on the statement it states i owe £15 interest as i did not pay off my previous bill.
Yet i didnt even recieve the last bill through the post
My credit history is excellent and i have enough money to pay it off anyway.
plus did i mention the previous week barclays failed to send me a new cash card 'must of got lost in the post' they said. they cancelled it and sent me out a new one. I was a whole week without access to my money!
Anyway I phoned up to get it sorted and the best they could do was to meet half way and me pay £7.50.
Am i within my rights to refuse to pay this or am i fighting a losing battle?

The very fact that they are prepared to meet you have way suggests that they would be prepared to go the whole way. Its all or nothing as far as banks are concerned ... expect the whole lot, I say.:wave:0

Your statement may have been lost in the post but surely you would have known that one was due and the approximate amount owing?
Therefore I think you are very lucky that they have given you £7.50 back.0 -

I agree 100%
Why don't you set up a direct debit and then this won't ever happen again. Presumably you can register to view your Barclaycard account online? You should do that too.0 -

Is this a new 'new' bill or the old one which has eventually turned up?
If so the amendment would surely show on next month's statement.
Is there any reason why you cannot register this card for internet banking - you could then see all your transactions and payment dates to your heart's content.0 -
As far as cc companies are concerned, not receiving a bill is not an adequate defense for late payment/non payment... reason is bcos the bills are sent out and it's not the cc company's fault that you didn't receive it (hence why should the cc company be out of pocket due to royal mail's incompetence?).
As far as the cc company is concerned, u should be aware of when the due date is every month (as it doesn't change), hence if it's approaching the due date and you haven't received a bill, it's your responsibility to find out what you need to pay.
They would have offered to meet you half way on an interest refund as a gesture of goodwill as this is the first occasion... yes you MAY be able to get a full month interest refund out of them if you push for it hard and you're normally a full payer (and you've paid in full now and the payment is only a couple of days late)... but this as I say is simply a gogw and is not an indication that you have a right not to pay it i'm afraid.. sorry!0
