Redundancy when on informal secondment?

Thanks for your help, I have another question!
I have been on informal secondment for about 18 months now - i.e. nothing in writing but I have been performing a different role (project manager). My employer has been acquired, and I do not expect that my substantive post will be needed going forward.
However, the role I am doing in secondment probably still has plenty to keep me busy.
I am unsure whether to ask for my job title / description to be changed, or whether this is a bad time to do that??

I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.

In these situation I recommend becoming involved and embracing the situation.
if your old job has gone and you see the need for this role(even though effectively a fixed term) you want to be seen as keen on making the new combined business work with you a part of it.
if it looks like your current role may be redundant then identify where your expertise fits in with the ongoing business.
Where did you see yourself after this project before the takeover?0
