  • I'm not aware of any currency traders on the board.

If I knew the answer to the question, I'd be very wealthy.

Any time in the last year: the dollar is now at an all-time record level against the Euro, and absurdly high against sterling.

If you are bothered by exchange rates then consider Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, which are very pleasant at that time of year. If you simply want a fantastic holiday and don't mind spending a lot for it and even changing money, then Cuba would be a far better choice than over-priced Orlando.

My opinion would be, buy half now IF happy with current rate and half just before you go ,its called edging your bets.
If not happy with current rate then do not buy.
Like others say,no one for sure knows whats going to happen with exchange rates.

It must be at least 10 years (and at least as many visits) since I bought dollars before a trip to the US.

One option for a big holiday and if you prefer to have your spending money in your hands is to buy a fraction each month and treat your dollar stash as your holiday savings account. That way you spread your currency risk and you are less likely to spend the money on anything else before you go.

Even if the holiday is paid for in advance you are planning on using cash for everything then make sure you take at least one credit card with you for emergencies.

That would be a Big Pile of Dong!

I'd probably only change $100 at a time as VND isn't the most useful currency to have leftover.

Accommodation booked but not paid for. 2 mouths to be fed and watered, so I reckon the dong might need replenishing at some stage.
