Paying rental increase (No new contract)

I live in a house-share. The landlord has told us the rent will be going up £30 from January and that they would be creating a new Tenancy Agreement to be signed. We have all said we will be staying on with the rental increase........
Though I really doubt the landlord is going to get the Tenancy Agreements to us before January based on previous late times they have got tenancy agreements to us as well as several mismanagements of the house/tenants.
I am highly likely going to pay the increase without the tenancy agreement, but just wondered what the rules are around this......should the Landlord be getting these agreements to us and signed before January 1st, if not, then are we within our rights not to pay the increase in rent?
At the end of the day I have agreed to the rent increase over text message and it's best to be on side with your landlord, but generally haven't been happy with the lacklustre effort of the landlord in terms of going by the rules, going by law, etc etc, Basically they are not very professional.

Then legalities aside why the hell do you wish to continue renting from this individual?!
:rotfl: I know right... but this forum is plastered with similar threads of tenants on properties they have problem with, LL causing nightmares and yet just wondering about the legality to stay longer in these places! Very bizarre behaviour... or just a liking to moan?
Whether the LL has followed or not the legality of the AST, the £30 increase will come, maybe not in Jan but surely by Feb!

Sometimes it's just better the devil you know.
You don't need a new TA in order to agree a rent increase. You can just come to a mutual agreement between yourself and the landlord and start paying the additional £30 pcm in January without signing a new contract. In fact doing things that way will mean you're on a periodic tenancy which will give you greater flexibility should you find somewhere better to rent in 2017.

How have you guys come to the conclusion that the landlord is 'causing nightmares' and therefore questioning why I am living under this landlord. :shocked:
I am not sure how any of what I wrote came across as a nightmare.
The landlord is just a little disorganised, a little unprofessional, and scatty. The landlord does have their good side. I just believe it's because they have been relatively new to renting property, but they are getting better at it. Far from 'nightmarish', and far from making people move out.0 -
