LV= contents insurance demanding Locks fitted as a

Hello,
Filled in an online quote for LV= contents insurance. Before paying, they included a tickbox that within 28 days all doors must have particular locks fitted and all windows must have locks fitted.
The window locks would be too diffiult to fit (old aluminium windows at the front).

Wonder if people tick this and don't bother (and thus invalidated their insurance in the case of theft).

Is this standard for contents insurance?

Who would you say provides good value contents insurance?

Thanks.

Why pay insurance knowing it wont payout? You may as well cross your fingers instead.

I would have thought the handles would match the plastic versions, my parents had 2 of the aluminium ones at the rear of the house.
I seem to remember them being sold as better than those cheap plastic ones for some reason or other. BUT when they decided to do more that company no longer sold the aluminium ones.

The handle fixings should be the same distance, the issue maybe the colour though. If the fixings are not quite the same it shouldnt be hard to fit modern locking handles.

Who provides good value, depends on your postcode. Direct Line were cheap for many years and then hiked their prices about 4 years ago.

I assume you mean aluminium window frames? ;)

There are 4 main triggers for minimum security for most insurers (LV included) which are:
    1. High theft risk postcode (as defined by the insurer, using Police recorded theft data and experience)
    2. Previous theft claim at that address
    3. High content sum insured
    4. High specified valuables sum insured.

One of the above must have triggered for the minsec endorsement to trigger
