HTC desire 530 query

Hi all, I upgraded to a HTC 530 last week and I'm still trying to sort out the personalising settings, but for some reason when I get a text or other notifications there's no sound, it vibrates but that's all, I've tried changing the ringtone but it's still the same, it was working fine when I got it but it's driving me crackers, I must have done something to it but I've no idea how to get the sound back on, any help you could give me I would really appreciate it, thanks in advance and have a merry Christmas to you all

Have you inadvertently changed it to vibrate mode? My phone (not an HTC) has sound/vibrate/silent and I often wonder why no one rings me after I've left a meeting until I realise I have left it on silent!! It's an age thing.

There could be a few places.
Go to the main settings, and there could be a 'sounds' menu item, and maybe also a 'notifications' one - have a look through those.
Also go into whatever messaging app it is, and look for notification settings in there.
