That's the theory but has anyone actually heard of an explosion in a vehicle due to hydrogen generation? The two lead acid leisure batteries in my boat sit in a pretty well enclosed place but have no ventilation ....been that way for 29 years now and when we visit a marina I plug in to shore power (the mains) so that they get fully charged albeit by an intelligent charger that senses the battery condition and drops down to trickle charging but then I assume that modern cars do the same.0 -
Mate hat a battery explode sitting on the floor whilst he worked on the vehicle, put a large dent in the portacabin office, covering everything in acid.
Luckily they has a hosepipe hooked up very close that was always on.
Modern cars do not do the same, a smart charger for leisure type situations float the battery at 13.8v to minimise gassing. A cars alternator can put out over 14.4volts.
Mine will output upto 18V if the battery is sufficiently drained to require it, but in normal use its 14.4Volts.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
