Very Account - will not pay me back

Hello all
I have an account with Very - I never use the credit facilities apart from the interim of actually trying the clothes on and sending back any returns. I then pay the full amount off the account.
However, Very this month have taken a payment AFTER I have already paid the account in full. I have asked them to return that to my account as my account with them in now in credit by a fair amount.
After 3 phone calls they said they would, however I have just received an email to state that I have to ask my bank to claim my direct debit back.
is this right????

You don't have to necessarily but it's an option.
It was probably just a crossover between them claiming the DD and the payment hitting your account.
It shouldn't really be any hardship for them to hit the button that sends you money but if they are going to be awkward, speak to bank instead of playing their games.0 -
Is the amount of credit in your account identical to the DD payment they collected? If yes then a DD clawback using the DD guarantee scheme is the simplest way of getting your money back.
Keep that email from Very where they advise you to do this! In fact, print it out and show it to the back if they question the DD clawback.0 -
No its a different amount so I am not sure what to doPoorMoon

Try the DD clawback anyway (for the amount you are owed) ... after all you have such an instruction from Very.0

Your original post seems to be saying that the Direct Debit amount was taken by Very by mistake as you had already paid the balance owing.
If that's so, then surely the amount taken by Direct Debit is exactly the amount that should be returned.
Putting all that to one side, you are claiming that the Direct Debit was taken in error.
Whatever the amount, as it was taken in error the Direct Debit Guarantee guarantees an instant return of those wrongly taken funds:If an error is made in the payment of your Direct Debit, by the organisation or your bank or building society, you are entitled to a full and immediate refund of the amount paid from your bank or building society.0 -

Claim the money back via your bank using the Direct Debit Guarantee.
If your bank asks why you're doing so, explain that you made payments via another method and have been advised by Very to claim the Direct Debits back. You have an email from them to confirm it.0 -
Sorry, I do not understand why it is a different amount.

I interpreted that the OP paid the Full Balance on the account but Very just took the Minimum Payment by DD."The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money"0 -
Yes ... so the amount owed would be the DD amount. So there shouldn't be any difference?0

I'll repeat......the Direct Debit amount was taken by Very by mistake as you had already paid the balance owing.

You would think so? But no, they took more
Anyway, the outcome was they ended up sending me a cheque for the amount owing and £20 to keep me quiet, I did have to threaten with an FCA complaint though as I just wasnt getting anywherePoorMoon
