Can not drink alcohol now :(

Ok I'm not sure if this is in the right place - just looking for suggestions...

I can no longer drink due to a medication that I have been prescribed.
Tonight we are having company, does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can drink whilst they are supping on their lagers etc??

I don't like fizzy pop....
I don't really have a fancy for anything in particular, but wondered if there are maybe any non-alcoholic cocktails or anything I could have?

Any suggestions welcome, I just don't want to bring too much attention to myself for not drinking that's all :)

why do you feel embarrassed that you cant drink

Think how happy your liver will be :D

On times when I've been on anti-biotics and cant drink then I'm happy just to sip away at a fruit juice. the supermarket aisles are now full of non-alcholic drinks, cordials etc.

It's not that I am embarrassed as to the fact I can't drink - it's why I can't drink that embarrasses me and I want to avoid the questions that will be asked when people notice I am not drinking.

Are there any sort of more exotic fruit juices out there that are tasty?
(Any more OJ this week and I am asking for trouble!!)
Or any ideas for non alcoholic cocktails?
I know they do kiddys cocktails at some pubs etc on holiday but I have never paid any attention to those as I much prefer the real thing :)

Don't feel embarrassed. I have been 'dry' for 9 years after developing an alcohol intolerance.

Just explain that you can not drink due to your current medication. Most people will understand this.

Sure there must be something here that you could try...

The other option - if you don't want people to know you are not drinking(don't get why but everyone to their own...) is to have non alcholic wine or beer and just not tell anyone

Like I say I just don't want people questioning me as I don't want people to be asking why I am on medication or what sort of medication I'm on that's all :)
    This one sounds nice:
    CAPUCINE
Shake together one part peppermint cordial and four parts fresh cream. Strain and add crushed ice,. Finely grate a little plain chocolate over the top.

Or I wonder - never thought of it before but surely I can blend icecream and milk to make some tasty milkshakes??

J20 is lovely, also your right about the milkshake business. Put a scoop of your favourite icecream in a blender ( with some fruit of the same flavour if you have it) add milk, blend and its delicious.

Hope this helps, also you can buy alcohol free wine, spritzer or lager and then it really will look like your on the drink when you r not.

I think I'll go with the milkshakes.
Fiance is going to shop to get the lagers in so I have asked for ice cream and milk a plenty! :D

  • My favourite non alcoholic drink is simple lime juice and soda water. It's not sickly sweet like some fizzy drinks, it's cheap and lo-cal :D.

I cant drink alcohol anymore, havent touched a drop in almost two years. I normally tend to go for sparkling flavoured water which I love, lots of different flavours and if you put it in a wine glass or short glass you can pretend you are drinking alcohol!

Just explain to them that the %vol on the alcohol actually refers to the amount of poison in the drink and you dont wish to poison yourself tonight, the poison in your alcoholic drink is the reason why you have to be licensed by law to sell it, its sad that you feel strange about not poisoning yourself along with your chums, alcohol is an evil drug and one of the biggest anti-nutrients you could find for sale anywhere on the planet
