O/S Daily Tuesday 20 December 2016

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Still dark, not raining at the moment, but we had some rain yesterday - horrible fine rain, so everywhere had started to dry up, but now it's damp and dirty again.

DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now going, and DS2 still in his pit.

Dinner last night was pork steaks, mash, veg and gravy, tonight hairdresser is coming so will be something quick, I'm thinking I may get some baking potatoes on my way into work, and serve jacket potatoes, beans and cheese, with fish fingers, I'll have side salad with mine, I can't remember the last time we had fish fingers.

Work yesterday - well I said famous last words, "it wouldn't be busy"! How wrong can you be, it was very busy for the week leading up to xmas, so I can't guess what today will be like! Hopefully similar as the day just flew by.

Keep safe and well x

Morning All

Cold here this morning and a little foggy too. Did the washing last night, that is drying in DDs room on the airer.

Came home from work and attacked the 2 bedrooms that had been storing stuff from the kitchen, they are all clean and tidy now.

I have one of my best friends coming up from Yorkshire today with her DD, her children and mine all grew up together - her DD now lives in Oz and is home for Christmas. They are going to my DDs on the way, she is so excited as she hasn't seen her pal for a few years, she was in SA the last time she visited.

I also have the 'blind man' coming after work to measure up, don't want to put him off as I've waited about 3 weeks for him to come. I still don't have any Christmas decorations up, it may or may not happen!

Right, off for a shower and the last Tuesday of this year at school. Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX

Good morning everyone :hello:

It's too dark to see what the weather is doing but it's not too cold as the heating hasn't come on. Hubby has left for work and the girls are fast asleep. I'm up for now but will be heading back to bed in a bit as I still feel very tired.

Just been thinking about what I want to do next year. Top of the list is to lose some more weight and get on top of my diabetes. A knock on effect of that will be having more confidence in going out. Having watched Chris Tarrant's train journey yesterday on the tv I would love to do something like that. He travelled through Sweden and Norway and it just looked beautiful. As I can't even get on our local bus at the moment it is a dream but I will definitely use it as a motivator.

I am not sure what to make for tea tonight, I think we have some kievs in the freezer, I will go and look in a minute. I have my Christmas shop arriving on Thursday so I need to make a little bit of space in the freezer. My giant turkey will be taken out to slowly defrost then though so that will clear a lot of space. I am really looking forward to Christmas dinner. My eldest's hubby is going to make me some home made bread sauce which will be lovely I'm sure.

Anyway, that's all my waffling for now, hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to. Take care xx

I took Scampi out early yesterday. As the road was closed and I wouldn't be seen by anyone, I just threw yesterday's clothes on and we walked up and down the path for a few minutes. Very liberating but I looked like a manic scarecrow :D Came back in and made a coffee, while I was taking a sip my loose back tooth decided it was almost, but not quite, time to come out – it twisted right round and was at a funny angle. I couldn't get it back in place, I sat there for a couple of minutes, not knowing what to do, lol. Took a deep breath and pulled, it's now gone and I can chew on the right side of my mouth again :D

Today I'll get the boring housework out of the way then wrap a few more presents. I want to start organising things for January so will scribble things down then start arranging them in my shiny new diary.

Morning everyone.

It's cloudless here and the moon is still shining brightly. By 4.3m yesterday there were stars out in the sky, the postie was so late in his round we discussed the stars. Today we have gales forecast.

After my early morning trip yesterday I'm enjoying a 'lie-in'. There is a small amount of marking to finish off for Thursday but I probably won't do that today.

JackieO - thinking about you and the family, it'll have been a tough day for you all.

Camelot - have a fab time with your friends. A new kitchen and old friends are just about perfect.

TA - lovely to read that your OH is more comfortable.

Tru - loving the Christmas carols / songs. They brighten my mornings.

Happy Tuesday to all.

Morning everyone,

Just sitting here catching up on the awful news from Germany, those poor souls :(

Will take the girls out soon and see what the weather is doing, don't think it's too cold as like Dumpling the heating hasn't kicked in.
I managed to pick up my family cards yesterday and a few other bits, it wasn't too busy in town and managed to get done in an hour, nothing like Gers ninja shopping mind :)
Also picked up two holly wreaths, am planning to visit my dad and brother's graves tomorrow and will also pop into Mum's bungalow to pick up post etc.
She was very tired again yesterday and slept a lot, she is enjoying her food a bit more but has such a tiny appetite, keep trying to think of all sorts of food to tempt her but very little seems to do the trick apart from cheese!
Anyhow, better get going as the dogs are sitting looking at me expectantly, have a good day everyone and take care folks x
• Good morning everyone, quick post as I need to get off to work. The sky is blue but with fast-moving clouds, at least it was blue 10 minutes ago, now grey clouds are covering it. Oh well, it was good while it lasted.
Last night's dinner was bubble and squeak lakes, with sausages. Not exactly a healthy option but it did use up leftover veg.
Hope everyone has a good day and love to those who are unwell or sad or tired. I've woken up ok but now have developed a headache, not really prone to headaches so am hoping that either it goes away or that I can ignore it. I think am just a bit run down and tired, two more days.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back
• Morning all x
Well been busy again. Woke up at silly o'clock this morning and not able to go back to sleep. DW on and WM loaded ready to go on.
Managed to catch one of the dustmen this morning to give them their xmas chocs still waiting for the recycling lot to come for theirs. Not much but they appreciate the gesture and I don't have any problems with getting anything taken for the rest of the year so worth it.
Plan for today is washing and ironing and I need to get some bread made and ice the xmas cake. Shopping list ready for the last of the xmas food bits.
Can not go far today as I need to wait in for last presents to be delivered.
Anyhoo better get on.
Hugs to all in need xx
Bright Blessings xx
• Morning folks and thanks NMLC. TRU that is my most favourite carol thank you!

Today we are going to the theatre to watch the panto that our lovely DGD is in. So the plan is that a big group of us are going to Bradford on the train this afternoon and we will have something to eat beforehand. DGD has to be at the stage door for 6.15 and we are booked for the 7.15 performance, so just time for a quick drink in the bar before we take our seats. The panto is Peter Pan this year (Jon Lee ex S Club 7 is Peter, Darren Day is Capt Hook and Billy Pearce is Smee) DGD is in the Sunbeam troupe and they are the Lost Boys. She is loving every minute of "stardom" lol! She might feel differently by the end of the run on the 29th Jan after 36 performances!!

After yesterday's huge post- funeral lunch we settled on just a snack in the evening. As we are eating out today it will just be a snack at lunchtime before we go. I could get used to these no cooking days! Sadly normal service will resume tomorrow!

Just opened the blinds and it's looking very dark out there for 8.00 a.m. but at least it is fine and wind free! Have a good day all if you can and ((HUGS)) to all in need/want of one. Thinking of all the poorlies and poorly loved ones, take care all xx

• Good morning,

In work much earlier than usual as I had to get public transport into work as it's my Xmas party lunch/dinner/night out today. By jings it's freezing.

Played football yesterday and then came home and had an early night. Today won't be mental one, I'll get the train home and I'm looking forward to my bed already!

camelot - I originally thought you meant a man that was blind haha.
Dumpling - Dreams like that are meant to be outlandish. "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss you'll land among the stars" - Brian Littrel.
AoD - Hope you feel better soon.
LWW - A lovely gesture. I think I'll do that too when I buy my own place next year.
