Leaving for a new job and Redunacy pay

Options
The office where I work is being shut, all jobs are being transferred to the other side of the country. Due to the distance all employee were offered redundancy.

The initial advise was that the office would be closed in march, each employee would be given a retention bonus if they stayed on to their termination date. Some jobs are being made redundant in March, some in June. The company has stated that it you leave before your termination date you will receive no redundancy pay. Is this correct? Can a company withhold redundancy payment if someone whose termination date was June left for a new job in May?

absoluteley, you are leaving a job that still exists, its your choice to leave.

    Thats it really
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • In circumstances like this you have to keep your cards close to your chest and play a careful game of chess.

I have witnessed people who managed to get 3 months pay in lieu of notice and full redundancy in top, but they were canny in the extreme.

I also know someone who got company A to pay for relocation to new location and then take redundancy because the new job in new location wasn't for him, and then take a job with company B not so far from new location.

Thank you, I could see how they could state it was a blanket ban.
