My background's in the travel industry, it isn't as simple as you think.:)0 -
I never can understand why people give vouchers that can only be used with one retailer.
It's a bit like saying I didn't know what to buy you so it giving you the money to spend but I'm telling you you can only spend it here.0 -
Just be careful the cards have an expiry date. Don't buy the lovetotravel card you can only book over the phone with them. Not sure about Thomson gift cards but Thomas cook cards you can buy anything in their shop except currency, So it doesn't have to be a TC holiday it can be any operator they sell ie Kuoni, a cruise, train trip etc.0

Never put such a fortune into the hands of a company that might go under, or that might not have something your parents want to book.
This. Travel agents go bust all the time. If they do, then any money held in vouchers will be lost. I wouldn't take the risk.0 -

I agree ..................Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0 -
I am of the view that a cheque should be issued. Be aware though that it is only valid for 6 months before becoming stale.
I know my parents would probably not cash the cheque - so a bank transfer might be even better.
It might be better if they made the booking themselves to ensure that s75 cover is maintained if anything goes wrong.0 -
