Claim for my dog - HELP

Options
Hi, hoping for some help/opinion please.

I applied for pet insurance for my dog back in March of this year, I remember the three declaration questions when applying as (not word for word)

1.Has your pet been previously insured

2.Has your pet ever been involved in an accident involving a third party or attacked been aggressive towards a person etc

And:

3.Has an insurer ever declined or refused to renew a policy with you

All the answers to these questions were no.

I have just run a check online and these questions are still the same when applying online

I also remember a section under presumptions (again this is there now still) which says the insurers shall not cover any pre-existing conditions.

With this in mind I assumed then that anything pre-existing won’t be covered, and as there is no section available to input these details 9as only questions 1,2 and 3 as detailed above) so I just set up the policy and anything that’s happened previous obviously won’t be covered.

My dog was taken ill at the weekend for a claim of nearly a £1000 so I am just checking I have made the correct assumption?

My dog had a stomach bug 3 years ago - the issue at the weekend is not linked in any way but I don’t want to lose out on a claim because of a technicality like this.

What are peoples thoughts on this?

I hear a lot of bad things about Pet insurance which is why I am a bit worried.

Thanks in advance.

I think you need to speak to the insurers and tell them about the illness 3 years ago and this new illness and ask if you are covered.

I would say a stomach bug is a single incident.
Most dogs/people have bugs and viruses, I wouldn't think there's any link after 3 years?

I would say you're fine. I wouldn't be surprised if, given that it's your first claim, the insurers request a full history from your vet, but I don't imagine they would query a one-off tummy bug from 3 years ago. If they do ask, you could always ask your vet if they're willing to write to the insurers and state that is was an unrelated, non-ongoing incident.

Did you claim for the "stomach bug"? Need a trip to the vet?
I don't think they really want to know your dog once had the squits...

Stomach bug claim for £1000? So if your insurance if £1000 per condition per year that is all used up now for anything that may be related?
    Bad policy, sorry.
Hope the dog is ok x
