Asda maybe doing cheap veg but everything else is roughly double the price of Aldi. I was in Asda today for the first time in a while and I was shocked how expensive everything was.0

I prefer to go to a local greengrocer and buy loose what I need. I hate all these supermarket fruit and veg all prepacked with the important use by date on. What nonsense.0

Ignore the best before date! I have always ignored them and a lot of fruit n veg are perfectly fine 3 weeks after the UBD! We didn't have UBDs in the 60s and before. I think food wastage has gone up because of these. I keep my veg in these in the fridge and the carrots which I bought 5 weeks ago, still look fresh.. Though pricey, you will recover the costs of these about within a few months if you never bought them.
Back to the 20p beg, I somehow dount the farmers will see anything from the price. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

If my local greengrocer, butcher and baker (I have no need for a candlestick maker) were open at 8pm when I usually do my shopping then I might consider using them,
Best before dates for veg are indeed nonsense. I have some carrots in the fridge which I should have used 2 weeks ago but they are still perfectly fine.0 -

lol I wish we HAD a local greengrocer, butcher and Baker but even if we did doubt we would get veg at this price and as for the annoying Best Before Dates I just take the veg out of the packaging, store correctly and it lasts for ages.Slimming World at target0 -
Asda might have some veg for 20p, but their potatoes are £1.25. So carrots, parsnips, sprouts and potatoes at Asda are £1.85. Tesco have everything for 39p so £1.56 for the four bags. Unless of course you can be bothered to go to both.0
