7-Day Travel cards and Christmas

Hi All

Long time lurker, not posted for a while

Purchased a 7 Day travelcard today and it expires on 25th Dec

As TFL (London Transport) are not providing any services on Christmas Day I'm only getting 6 days for the price of 7, yet they still sell it as a 7 Day travelcard

I've asked TFL about it and am waiting for a reply, but wondered whether this would be breaching the Sale of Goods Act?

Thanks

I presume it is still cheaper than buying 6 x day returns?

Which I assume is your other option. Why did you buy it?

To be honest I bought a 7 day travelcard expecting it to last for 7 days of travel - it was only when I checked my account I realised it expired on 25th

No to that one. The SOGA was replaced with the Consumer Rights Act in October 2015.

It is pretty obviously a weekly ticket and still gives you significant savings over buying a daily ticket.

Yes it does - I'm not disupting that - I'm wondeirng about the validity of selling a 7 day travelcard that can physically only allow 6 days of travel - It's specified as 7 days not weekly so I thought I would receive 7 days of travel

Oops, rookie mistake. Thanks for the correction
  • The problem you will have is that it does indeed offer you 7 days of travel on any available services. It just so happens that there aren't any available services on one of those days (but if there were then you would of course be able to use them).

Oh well. Seems others think it's OK so I'll just let it lie then

Most people who buy 7 day tickets don't use them every day. Many people don't use their weekly tickets on a Sunday.

Were you hoping to travel by public transport on Xmas Day? If not, then they you are not losing out in any way!

Not on Christmas day no, but working on Boxing Day so need to use public transport, hence why a 7 day card from today would have covered that i.e. to have 7 days of travel
