    Hmmm... what if the vendor misleads you? And an insurance claim is refused as a result.

    Although TBH, solicitors typically advise sellers to insure their properties until completion anyway.

    If you get buildings insurance without contents too then does it matter what locks you have?

    It might be relevant given that burglars will often cause damage to the building (e.g. while kicking in your door).

    I also know someone whose flat was broken into, partied in and set fire to :( so locks are very much relevant for buildings insurance.
