Stairlift Lubricant

Hi, does anybody know what the spray-on lubricant is, that stairlift engineers use when servicing the older type of stairlift? By older, I mean it has an exposed chunky aluminium track up the stair steps, not the side wall, with the rack teeth in the track also exposed. It is directly powered by the mains, not a trickle-charged battery.
The lubricant they usually use has a very distinctive smell, not unpleasant.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the answers. Yeah, I'm thinking regular grease for the rack and pinion, and silicone for the wheels, which are hard nylon wrapped around a metal core, twelve of them.
Thanks again.
