Or someone has taken the opinion that bodging the sub floor with concrete will stop water penetrating...or at least mean there is no wood to rot!0

I can hear serious work going on next door. Her builder was out at the tie I was chatting to her but she said she would only let me have a look around her living room once he's around.
What exactly is she afraid of? I'm not looking to sue her or anything.0 -
Oh and these are 30s semi houses.0

I wouldn't particulalry expect a 1930s bay window to have any foundations, let alone concrete ones. It does sound like this is long ongoing problem.
The stream/culvert could possibly do with being diverted or contained? I'm starting to flounder.
Your neighbour needs to be more helpful. Perhaps the builder will help shed light.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Right. I've done some more research and there is definitely a stream runninng in a roughly south westerly direction, parallel to our road and properties. I shall upload the map in a bit.
I'm thinking of getting in touch with the council to obtain details of how the stream was culvert ed and when it was last maintained. Surely it must be their responsibility?0 -

Obviously the stream can't stop. It either must have been diverted or culverted.0 -
Bloody lol. Here I was asking for advice about skirting boards and it's turned into a topic about culverted streams lol!!!!0

You getting to the root of your problem though so probably good you asked! lol0

Actually I'm going to use a two pronged approach. I'll contact the Environment Agency and the council and see who responds. I need info fast.0
