Vanishing thread

ripplyuk

I started a thread on Friday in discussion time and it was about 3 pages long on Saturday morning. I've got emails telling me there are more responses, but when I click on the link, it says 'Invalid thread'. When I searched the forum, my thread has gone.
Could anyone tell me what has happened? Is it a technical glitch? I know posts are often removed if there's something offensive in them but I can't see why an entire thread would be wiped.

Just guessing really, but have you checked your posting history to see if any of the posts you made are still showing? I'm wondering if your thread might have been merged with another on the same topic, but elsewhere on the boards?0

I've just checked, and it's vanished from my posting history too. It's like it never existed!0

Oh dear, it does sound like the entire thread has been wiped doesn't it?
Would you happen to know if there were any contentious posts added to your thread (or is this what you're hoping to find out)?0 -
I was thinking that might be what happened, but then I assumed if someone wrote something nasty, they would only wipe that individual post, not the whole thing.
I'm not sure if that's what happened though. I haven't been able to see the thread to find out. There was certainly nothing offensive on it when I was last able to read it.0 -
It says on here

that if discussion becomes too heated then the entire thread will be pulled, to save time and resources from being diverted away from the core money saving parts of the site. Unless someone else happens along, who posted on your thread in DT and might have read the other responses there, then I guess the only way you can find an answer is to drop an email to the MSE team and ask them. Sorry, wish I could think of something more helpful to suggest0 -
Thanks for your help, jrtfan. Maybe that's what happened. I did email the mse team yesterday morning, but haven't heard back yet.
I wouldn't describe it as a heated discussion though, not when I was able to read it anyway. And I don't think there was many more comments on it after that.0 -
You're welcome, sorry I couldn't be of any real use.
I hope you'll hear back in due course, anyway, just to give you some closure if nothing else!0 -

A lot of the users share that view ...
There is even a response somewhere from MSE Towers that they just remove offending posts and don't generally remove whole threads.0
