According to the highway code it's "merge in turn" not "act like a stubborn mule".

Correct and the mergers need to realise this as well.

On my route home from work there is a short stretch when the road becomes two lanes and you can merge at the end. I always stay in the left but lots race by in the right hoping to get ahead (nothing wrong with that, they are entitled to). However once we get to the end I always let one car in, then refuse to let anymore in, the amount of cars that think they are have right of way just because they are merging is unbelievable. To be fair I also see many on my side that do not let anyone in (buts thats not my problem, its a risk you take moving to the right hand lane) , I think they see me as a soft touch as I let one in! If everyone merged in turn as the highway code says then these situations would not arise.

How do we know the OP hadn't already let one (or more) car(s) through

Agreed if two lanes were merging then just let them in you have no more right to the road than her.

This is the reason there are 3,4,5 mile tailback on motorway works because everyone jumps in to the left lane where if everyone just stayed in their lane and merged like good little drivers we wouldn't have a problem.

This mentality of my road you don't get in breeds to change but as we are all too pigheaded then it will never change.
I for one will always drive all the way down the outside lane whether anyone else does or not.
  • I did in fact let a couple of cars in but she just kept trying and trying until the point she cudnt go anymore but because I carried on she is claiming I hit her wen all I was doing is going straight wen In fact she was the one getting closer n closer to me

    Try these Op; ,.:!?'"
All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.
