So even though all the bills come out my account and my OH puts money in my account to help with them I don't have to tell them about that? I get paid child support off my ex husband that is put into a joint bank account we still share each month. That account isn't in debt and is purely used for him putting money in and me taking it out again. Will I have to say about that too?
I'm just wondered they'll use it as an income and both payments could suddenly stop one day is either my ex husband or my partner decide to stop paying them.

Did you go through Stepchange? I want to get it paid off so obviously I'd love to pay the highest amount possible, but that isn't a guaranteed income I have and could suddenly stop.

No I wasn't through stepchange, Started with a fee paying one (didn't know stepchange existed at the time) then went self managed,

I know you want to get it all paid off but don't leave yourself struggling or you'll never get out of it, Make sure you are realistic on what you spend and what you have left for debts and don't let stepchange bully you into paying more than you can afford

  • Hey. You should definitely declare all your income, for the sole reason that this is the only way a debt advisor can give you the correct advice. If you leave either of these income figures off the budget your situation will look much worse to the debt advisor than it really is, and probably lead to the wrong debt solutions being advised.

If you were recommended a DMP and say the child maintenance stopped or didn't come in one month, all you'd have to do is contact SC and let them know and they'd be able to help. The whole point is that a DMP is flexible to match your circumstances.

Its most advisable to be a bit creative and leave yourself a buffer if you can, and especially exaggerate your outgoings a bit
