Quick DMP questions please

Options
Hi all,
I owe roughly around £18k and Step Change have recommended a DMP.
I'd just like to ask you all a few things.
At the minute my partner pays me money each month as I own the house with my ex husband who lives abroad. I'm assuming I declare this as an extra income? It's around £700 a month.
Also, my ex husband pays me around £500 month for help with our son, child maintenance but as a mutual agreement between us. this isn't guaranteed income but I do rely on him paying me. Will I need to tell them about this too?
Many thanks and I've been reading though peoples diaries etc and they've been amazing at helping me do something and not sitting around waiting for this to all go away. I'll post my full story another.
x

    Hi,

Personally i would keep the child maintenance a private agreement between you and your ex, as you cant always be 100% certain he will pay it, and if he didn't pay it, and you had included that income, in your budget, problems could occur.

A DMP is not a regulated agreement, so there are no rules here, only guidelines, but they would want to know about partners income yes.

That's what I suspected as I was worried they would include it and if he one day said he couldn't afford to pay then I'd be stuck. I will declare my partners contribution to the household though.
    Thanks

Why would you tell them that? When I went through mine my wife was kept completely out of it, non of the debt were hers so none of their business

Really? That's interesting to know too. The house is not in his name and we share no financial link together.

Do they check your bank statements to see how much money you have going in?

I get money put in my account every month towards bills as everything comes out my account. I'd have to declare that wouldn't I? x

Did you go through Stepchange? I want to get it paid off so obviously I'd love to pay the highest amount possible, but that isn't a guaranteed income I have and could suddenly stop.

Yea sorry, I was thinking IVA where you have to include all household income.
Doesn't really apply to a DMP solely in your name.
