sounds about £200 work+ however much the doors /paint costs.0 -
I'll do it for £1500
You make several references to fungicidal wash. Do you have some sort of damp problem? If so washing the walls and painting over it will not fix this."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0 -
It's more of a condensation problem that proper ventilation and a decent humidifier would sort out, but the spores are already ingrained in a small area of the wall. So I guess he thought he should coat the whole room in fungicidal wash. Anyway he clearly didn't want the job unless he was to be paid an extortionate amount and I think the holes in the ceiling from the maniac upstairs stamping so hard that the joist nails were pushed out, scared him off a little. It would only have taken a couple of days. Probably doesn't need the work.0

What a joker!
My decorator would do this in about a day and cost £250-300. He's a bit on the pricey side but works really fast.
Your quote is unreal.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

I didn't include the price of the doors in mine.
He'd get round a couple of rooms including a couple of (basic) new doors in 1.5 days max.
It may be a bit more than £200-300 but no more than £500 and nowhere near the close to £2k quote the OP received.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
Never ceases to amaze me that people think decorating is not a skill. Most will pay anything for a plumber, a roofer, a locksmith when its urgent. Just because you think you can paint etc; then P&Dtr should be peanuts, £10 hr is cheap, so instead of saying £300 and do it in a day, why not be realistic. 1250-1300 is bonkers. We just had 10 doors, 30 mtr of skirting and 56 mtrs of walls (and 2mtrs of 10ft high ceilings) undercoated and glossed for £400 (we supplied paint), It took a professional P&D 5 days. including filling holes, sanding etc ect. £10 hrs approx. The man does it for a living and should earn a great wage for his/her skills. How many of you earn less than £400 a week, for sitting on your RRR's #rantOver0

-edit- wrong thread, sorry0

Not £1800, but certainly a bit more than £200 - I'd hazard a guess at around 500-600 if you have fungus/damp issues. Though as previously mentioned, washing it off and painting over it won't fix it unfortunately0
