Trimming Doors - Circular Saw vs Power Planer

I'm going to go against the grain.
Using a brand new high tooth count circular saw blade. Clamp a straight edge (long level or a piece of wood) across the door exactly the distance from outside of the blade tooth to the edge of the saw. One pass job done.
This simplifies it further https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=R3pQplY3qIA
This is what I would probably do too though I am a little torn. 5mm is on the line between planner and circular saw for me (granted I'm no chippie!). Just make sure it is a high count, reputable brand blade.0 -

I suppose you could use a tenon saw if it was the only saw you had but it is not right for this job given that it has a "back" which gets in the way. Or put more simply it's for cutting tenons.
I actually have dozens of hand saws and several power saws.
The reason I use a tenon saw is precisely because it has a back. If you want an accurate, perfectly straight cut, the extra stiffness is essential... just the same as when it is used for cutting tenons.0 -
So I bought a new blade for my circular saw and went for it. It worked very well.0
