We're flying out of Belfast International to Tenerife on the morning of Christmas eve.

Swissport are the support for Thomas Cook, who we fly with.

Is it only Unite union members on strike or all Swissport Staff?

We'd be happy enough bringing hand luggage but i'd have thought the likely delay will be getting hold luggage ON to the plane, so even those with just hand luggage would be delayed anyway?

We're going to ring Thomas Cooks during the week but i'm getting jumpy about this.

Anyone any other thoughts / advice?

In legal terms don't swissport have a principle-agent relationship with airlines and thus aren't a third party?

Just checked the link and Swissport are the ground handling there.

I don't see BA on the list of airlines handled by Swissport in Edinburgh (I thought it was Menzies that handled BA) have you been informed that this is not being handled by BA/Menzies?

It appears all the various unions have decided to try and bring down the current government by causing maximum disruption at the most important time of the year. And it's us public that suffer. I hope all the strikers starve over Xmas.

I've seen various quotes along those lines from union leaders.

One said, when talking about the government, something like "if we all spit together we can drown the !!!!!!!s"

Lets be honest, they've picked a time to cause most disruption to innocent people.

Quite frankly its ridiculous in this day and age.

Yes, there was someone on Jeremy Vine yesterday, can't remember who, Scots man representing the unions, said pretty much the same thing, all designed to bring this Tory government to it's knees.
