Redundancy No Notice This Week

Options
Hi,

I am very new to this forum and worrying a bit.
I was made redundant without notice on tuesday as the firm I worked for as a maintenance fitter went into administration, suddenly. As a consequence of this all the staff have to claim our redundancy through the government plus loss of earnings because they did not pay us for last week's work.

I have done this claim online, contacted jsa and claimed online, contacted the relevant bill companies for my due payments and have been applying for jobs as you do.#

The parent company based in Holland have put our company (which was a wholly owned subsidiary) into administration leaving many people without protection and money. They themselves are still in liquid.

No doubt what they have done is legal in english law??

Is there anything else I could be doing to help my situation and loss of earnings??

Thankfully we have no mortgage but we do have some loans.
I have an interview next week as I am a time served fitter and aged 60, so getting another job is going to be somewhat a little more difficult for me.

Thanks for listening. :)

Don't under sell youself, you just might find yourself walking straight into another job. Whats happening to your compaines pension?
Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring
  • Nothing at all, dont even know whether its government or private.
  • Got another job start 3/1/2017 less money slightly but less travelling and the chance to learn electrics in being a maintenance fitter which what Ive always done.
Signed on at jsa for the money Im entitled to while being unemployed.
Claimed through the government for loss of notice and redundancy.
There is not much more I can do but things are looking up.
  • If more than 20 were made redundant by the administrator without notice, you will also win automatically at tribunal a protective award. You need to work out if this will actually gain you any additional benefit as it is capped when the govt have to pay it.
As memory serves me it is capped at 8 x £475 minus xxxx already paid.
Certainly in my scenario (7 years ago) of being under 40 with 4 years service I gained.
It can also be awarded to all affected via one ET claim.
It was free to go to ET back in those days as well.
