Do you trust money supermarket to switch your supplier?

I've just received an email from isupply saying that my application to switch my dual-fuel account from Scottish power was unsuccessful, for one of a number of possible reasons.
I called them to ask what the reason was, and they said "all it says is there were discrepancies with the application" and "this happens a lot with comparison sites".
This is the second time I've got around to attempting to change my fuel supplier, and it feels like companies offering good deals just decide to pull the plug (no pun intended) with little explanation. They said the 33 (?) month fixed rate was no longer available, but now there is another fixed rate at 21 months which I could avail myself of. I wonder if they're hoping I'll just accept it blindly, without checking whether it's the best rate possible.
Given the fact that MoneySupermarket also promised a cashback (30 or 60 maybe?) once I'd switched, I'm pretty frustrated just now, also when I think that maybe there has been a hike in the prices during that period where I thought I was safely switching, (or worse, Scottish Power will cut off my supply! - I doubt that would happen, but it's always a concern, isn't it?)
Has anyone else had this experience? I won't be trusting the MoneySupermarket site to handle my application next time, though I may still use their comparison feature.

Unfortunately, we are unable to process your application at this time. This is due to the following reason:
You have selected a single rate tariff but you have a dual rate meter (Economy 7 meter); or
You have selected a dual rate tariff but you have a single rate meter; or
You have selected a standard credit meter tariff but you have a prepayment meter; or
You have selected a prepayment meter tariff but you have a standard credit meter; or
The requested tariff is no longer available; or
The price you were quoted was incorrect.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience that may have been caused. We want to help you select another tariff for your energy supply.

It is possible that there was a delay in passing your details on to the supplier. Comparison sites are nothing more than referral sites; they do nothing in terms of the actual switch. It could be, for example, that you applied at 9pm one night and the referral was passed on to the supplier the following day. However, at midnight on the day that you applied, the selected tariff was withdrawn. I may, of course, be wrong.
In truth, the only way of guaranteeing that you will get a particular energy tariff is to apply via the supplier's own website. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

All comparison sites only pass on the the information you give it to the supplier you ask to switch to.
Who sent you the email? That gives you some possible clues as to why you were not accepted. Do any of them, as far as you were aware at application, apply to the application you made?
(not sure how most of them could apply, unless you knowingly input incorrect information about your current supplier & tariff)
