hfc bank ppi

hi peps
ive just remembered when i was young way back in 1983, i had a couple of loans with HFC bank, and i almost certain i HAD to to take ppi out with these loans.
q1. how far back can i go to claim back these loans
q2. how will i prove ive had these loans, i cant even remember how much they where for, but i remember being made to feel like a criminal asking for a loan with them.

thanks in advance for your replies

  • If you had to take it out, then that wouldn't be a mis sale.

    It's also pre regulation.

PPI was a middle to late 80s invention. So, this must be one of the earliest cases.

As far as the available evidence allows and as long as the firm signed up to a voluntary agreement to review pre-regulation cases.

Lending criteria in 1983 was much more sensible than it was in the mid 2000s. You had to have proper interviews back then.

Whilst possible that you could have a success, you would be reliant on documentation still existing 33 years after the event. This is also before the data protection act and when that was introduced, firms went over the top in destroying old data. So, you are quite probably going to be reliant on any paperwork you hold to prove it existed. Let alone in showing it was mis-sold.

    Possible but very low odds.
