hotel compaint advice.

Hello all, just hoping for some advice and what further actions I can take.

In short myself and some friends stayed at a hotel in early November. and we were not satisfied with our stay for a number of reasons.

During the stay we were promised 1 nights stay to be refunded and this was not held up to. A complaint has been sent in with follow up correspondence but we have yet to have any sort of a response.

I just wonder what we can do, and if we are likely to even get this refund back now.

Did you get the promise in writing, or was it made in front of independent witnesses? If not then it's probably not worth doing anything that costs you any money. Cr&ppy review on Tripadvisor would be my suggestion.

Ask for the managers name of the hotel and send a written complaint detailing what has gone wrong.

If there was a witness that heard the refund being offered, include a signed letter from them too.

Do not let this go as that is what they will be counting on. Make a fuss, make some noise and you might get what you want....just be polite through the whole process.

No proof of refund, but do you have any proof that their accommodation failed to conform to contract?

    What exactly went wrong?

If (for example) you just weren't satisfied, theres no right to any remedy and even if you could prove they did offer a 1 nights refund, because its a one sided promise, its not legally enforceable and they could withdraw the offer at any time.

If however the description said your room would have xyz facilities and it didn't, then you might have a legal basis for a partial refund (although usually the refund would be proportionate to the breach - had to include that as far too many people seem to think minor breach = free holiday).
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
