Are Pod showers durable enough?

justaquestion

Hi folks,
Just in the process of replacing a shower tray and enclosure, and getting the shower panels at back of shower as well. Existing pumped electric shower to be reused with this.
Someone has mentioned that the pod shower enclosure is a great solution, but as we have a very lively autistic child of eight, just wondering how durable the pods are compared to the setup that I have initially outlined above?
Thanks for any advice

I think are expensive for cheap rubbish and a potential risk for legionella.
I feel quite strongly about them.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Thanks you for your interesting reply.
As I don't fully understand why a pod shower would be more likely to give the above disease or infection, would be grateful if you or anyone else could enlighten me further.
Its an upstairs shower that I am replacing and as I have had lots of trouble with water leaks in past coming down through ceiling and through light in ceiling, I thought the pod might be a good idea to stop this
Hope that someone can give me more info before I really order it.
Many thanks0 -
Problems with leaks will almost certainly be poor installation.
You can still poorly install a shower pod, you only really remove one possible leak point of several.
Pay someone to install anything you have properly.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

We've done from the very high end porcelnosa brand to the mid range frog shower brand. None are particularly great and as most are built in place there give no great advantage as a fit and forget product. Pods have more silicone joints than a standard shower enclosure and usually the base of the tray is fibreglass so still flexs
Find a good installer and you should be able to get a 25yr lifespan with minimal maintainanceHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -

Thanks a lot for replies.
As reards the above does this really mean that the Pod shower could well be given to leak more?
With the conventional tray we were going to install shower panels as well but the pod overall will come out at least £400 more expensive.
So to be honest I am still totally up in the air about whether to go ahead with pod,
Probably wheat it boils down to is,
Is it less likely to develop a leak and is durable enough.
Thanks to all for helpful advice and helping me to make up my mind.0
