I think either of them will be happy to help given the new soa.
You could do your own dmp, but you would have to be very strict with yourself. I like the security that I feel I have with cccs. They're always there to support and reassure you when the nasty letters arrive.
There are plenty of people here that do manage their own dmps, but it's just if you feel able to cope?

I think that your circumstances mean that a DMP will be eminently do able. However check whether their paperwork includes an emergency fund. Ie for boilder going kaput, or car conking out? If not then would suggest that you keep back say £100 a month for a few months to get an emergency fund together.
