So would you say a LED light that is battery operated that goes on and off is as low a risk of an incandescent light bulb on a timer?0

An explanation of the word scarred wasn't necessary.
it reduces risk, pollution, and wastes money. Why have a switch.
The public education film wasn't made for entertainment, people die and houses burn down from electrical fires, that includes ones started by fridges and freezers, many of which are subject to a recall.

I'd say you're barking up the wrong tree if you think a battery powered led is going to stop a burglary.
battery powered is low risk because it's low voltage and low currrent, incandescent because the filament acts as a fuse.Don't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0 -
I bought a cheap Chinese remote IP camera off fleabay, mainly just to play with and see what they were capable of.
It cost just under £20 and for the money it's very impressive. I can control it from my mobile, it usually sits on the window sill looking out but I can remotely turn it to look indoors. What really surprised me was the picture quality, it really is better than I thought it would be for the money.
You can listen to what's going on via the built in mic and even speak through the internal speaker.
Something like this.

As already stated I did replace the Chinese power supply with a UK one though.
Title says HD 720P err max res 640x480, rather short of 720 HD.
Other sellers list it as a 1MP camera.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

So both a battery powered LED light and a timer switch that switches on and off a incandescent light bulb lamp plugged into a mains are both as low a risk as each other in terms of catching fire?0 -
Ispy free camera software. Also while often not great in low light, people are starting to use their old cell phones with the megapixel cameras, built in wifi and battery backup as surveillance cameras.0

What's wrong with installing a burglar alarm?0

I can suggest 2 apps where an old Android phone can be repurposed to be the cam and either an Android or an Apple can monitor.
1. Athome
Good for permanently monitoring, e.g. keeping an eye on pets from time to time.
2. SalientEye
This one can be set to send pics when something moves across its field of vision.
Nether app requires rented server space for images. As I recall, these are either free or cheap as an app download.
I have the feeling that these types of app are prone to being put to sleep by the phones power saving settings, even if left plugged into a charger. Trial and error will tell.0
