Medical insurance notification

Policy with Axa via the coop.
The policy renews on the 1/10
Holiday booked a week before.
Medical incident occurred for the first time in November, so after booking holiday & annual renewal.
In order to be covered do we have to notify Axa?
If they refuse to cover, what then as the policy was in place at the time of booking.
Thanks

check your policy documents but usually you have to notify them of any changes.
Best to phone them and ask0 -
OK so you had a continuation of cover - which means that your trip booked prior to the policy is covered, for sure.
Your say your medical issue arose for the first time ever - during the period of cover. So sheramber is right, your policy will indicate that you must tell them about any change in health which might give rise to a claim.
Assuming for a moment, your condition might give rise to a need for medical treatment on your trip, but that you are not putting your health at risk by travelling, then it is the insurer's choice whether they offer you the right to claim for cancellation or agree to cover the trip (possibly asking for additional premium to cover that condition).
But they cannot simply cancel the policy or refuse to cover your condition without paying a cancellation claim.
Be careful if you recover and are fit to travel later, that they confirm cover for any recurrence of the same condition.I am just thinking out loud - nothing I say should be relied upon!
I do however reserve the right to be correct by accident.0
