The Sun on Saturday puzzle competitions

Sorry if this is the wrong place post this but I searched and couldn't find a thread about it.

The Sun has a page of puzzles on a Saturday with three that you can win money on. Crossword, Arroword and Wordsearch. I send in the answers every week via email, you can also do them by post or phone or text.

I received an email saying I won the wordsearch one and had won £50. Great, I thought because I never usually win anything, but further down the email it said they only pay by BACS so they needed my bank details. I'm a naturally suspicious person so didn't send them, but did reply asking all sorts of questions to verify it was genuine and even rang the Sun to ask them if it was usual to pay prizes by BACS. I thought they would send a cheque and so did the people I spoke to at the Sun, but no-one knew for sure.

I was wondering if anyone on here had ever won one of the puzzle prizes and if you got the same request for bank details or if you were paid by cheque. They did say that the competitions have been taken over by a different company which is why they are changing to BACS payments. I know that something has changed because a while ago the email address for the comps changed.

Any advice is appreciated because at the moment if they can't send a cheque then I don't want the money. Giving out my bank details is not worth the risk.

I have seen a few posts on here from the Sun newspaper , and the terms do state they will need youR bank details to pay.

You are only giving them the same details as on a cheque , i.e. bank account number and sort code so should be OK.

I've tried to find where it says about it in the newspaper but can't see anything about how they pay you. You couldn't give me a link to the relevant posts on here could you? That would be a great help.

& on a few of them it mentions re 'we will need winners bank details'
ie:
E: 09/12 win £50
E: 16/12 win £50

Thanks for the links fire**fly, I only buy The Sun on a Saturday so didn't know there were other comps besides the puzzles pages ones. I also did a google search and found that they have a new thing where you enter codes and get £5 when you've entered 28 of them, that also says they need bank details to pay you. So it all must be legitimate and I've sent them my bank details to claim my £50. :T
