This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning folks.
Up and at 'em already and going to face the group of teenagers again.
I've got a plan on how to clear the small barn of junk which means starting at the front and moving to the back where the big bits of unwanted kit are.
I hope everyone is doing well or getting better.
Happy Thursday.0 -

[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]The decorations are all done, except for two little things I need blu-tac for. I bought a cheap version of blu-tac last year, have just discovered that once opened it dries out and is useless, lol. All the presents are here, I've been putting them in a pile as they've arrived but yesterday I sorted them into seven bags – one bag per person – and have the wrap, cards, scissors and sellotape in another bag. I'm not wrapping them yet, I'll wait til the house is empty of people (probably on monday) then open some wine, put my Christmas CD on and get stuck in

[FONT=Verdana, sans-serif]All I need to do today is mop the kitchen floor. There's no point in doing it yet, Scampi will have his usual muddy game in the garden late morning so I'll sort the floor later. Mum is coming round for coffee at about 10am. The afternoon is all mine

Good morning everyone :hello:
It's too dark to see what the weather is doing but it is still very mild thank goodness. Hubby has left for work and the girls are getting ready for school. I cooked bacon this morning so that got them out of bed sharpish
.
My eldest daughter popped round with the grandchildren last night. My grand daughter asked me very nicely to go to her carol concert tonight but I just can't and I feel awful about it. I hope the girls will go instead.
I am going to cook salmon for tea tonight, we will have it with mash and peas. DD15 made tea last night as I didn't have the energy in the end. I think she did a great job and it all got eaten so that is the main thing.
Thank you Tru for the Christmas song, I really like to hum along with it in the morning. Sending hugs to the poorlies and sad.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning All
Thanks for the song tru - one of my favourites.
It's wet this morning, the children at school will probably be in all day again - 2 days in a row and the Christmas lunch will be unbearable. I may close the office door!
Kitchen floor down, a seemless match from the hall and looks quite smart. Hoping they crack on today, I'm getting restless!
Hope you all have a good day, take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone
Gers - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need them x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 also gone to work, DS2 now getting up.
Dinner last night was breaded chicken portions, pasta in sauce, mushrooms and peas for DS1, DS2 and myself, DH had the chicken with chips and beans - as he moans about the pasta - and guess what - he moaned about having chips! Short swift reply from me was that I didn't give him chips the night before and he doesn't want the pasta, so I gave him an alternative, and walked out of the room and left him to it, hence no more complaining and plate duly cleared. I remembered to get the pork steaks out of the freezer, so we'll be having those with mash, veg and gravy.
Work was quite busy yesterday, now on days' off until Saturday when I'm working until 12 noon, then back Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and then I'm finished until the following Wednesday. Spoke to Supervisor yesterday as we were supposed to be told about the restructure before Xmas - that's now not going to happen, but she said they would be letting us know as soon as they could in January, so I still don't know definitely what's happening, it's frustrating.
All the normal "to do" list to crack on with today, this will be disjointed as I'm going to see my bestie and take her family's prezzies, I think we're going to have some lunch too as her local spoons' type place. I need to go to local town too this morning to visit the bank and building society.
Keep safe and well x

Morning everyone,
Dry but mild here, last night was clear and the most beautiful moon rose in the sky, not sure what the technical term is but it had two circles surrounding it, gorgeous.
Mum had a relatively good day, she managed to write a lot of her cards and we had the trip down to the garden centre which she enjoyed. The tree finally went up and was decorated, the snowman bunting is also up and strung along the main beam, very festive
Today is my youngest DSS birthday so we are dropping Mum back at DB's this morning and then meeting stepson for lunch, haven't seen him since he went up to Uni in September so very excited to catch up on all his news.
Thinking of all poorlies and those with heavy hearts, this time of year is especially poignant with so much going on, wishing you all peace x
Have a good day everyone, take care folks x0 -
Morning all,
Damp here but still mild, I have a load in the wm but I think it will have to go in the TD today.
Had a lovely lunch with the girls yesterday although the food was not up to much, we sat and chatted for several hours and put the world to rights.
Today we need to take little Evie for her Christmas haircut, her fur is very much like human hair and is very soft and long, we have a lovely lady that does her for us and she comes back very smart indeed !
While she is is the groomers we are going round to order some tea, there is a local shop which do the most amazing coffee beans and loose tea, they do me a massive bag of tea which keeps us going for a few months.
We will then go round and get the Christmas trees, I think Im going to get two this year, one for the conservatory (we normally have it in the lounge but we have too many people coming this year and it wont fit), and one in the little study which the presents can be under, but I will see how much they are first.
Dinner tonight will be something and chips and lunch will be what ever we can find !
Have good days all and hugs where needed xx0 -
Good morning everyone,
Really sleepy this morning when I woke up but I stumbled out of bed, put clothes on and went to the gym. I'm really enjoying going in the morning and having the evenings to myself but boy is it tiring.
I watched 24 Hours in A&E last night. One of my favourite programmes. None of my friends and family like it beceause they say it's sad however I say it's the opposite. It shows how amazing our NHS can be and the importance of family. It gives me hope in a world which is filled with bad news.
I don't have any plans for tonight other than an early night, I think.
Hope everyone has a nice day

Morning, ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one.
Today is the day last year that we got the devastating news that my youngest son Nicholas had died in his sleep from a burst aneurysm in his brain.
It will not be an easy day for any of us; we will spend a quiet day remembering Nick and all he did for us and other people.0 -
Csarina - take time to remember the happiness he brought to you and your OH's lives.
I survived the teenagers. Learnt that one is barely 17 years old and most were not good at coping at school. Also learnt about working dogs and the difference between AMD and Intel chips - unfortunately the knowledge didn't linger in my brain, straight through the ears and out again! Still, at least they have all now achieved that part of their assessment which has nothing to do with me retaining information.
I've paid my neighbour for the meat and begun the clearing out of junk process. It won't be as bad as I imagined, just a couple of unwanted garden kit to get to the tip and the rest tidied up. The freezer isn't huge or heavy. Hopefully the delivery men will drive to the farmyard and carry it in that way as it won't fit through the house at the front door.
Now I'm writing up the final assessments whilst waiting for the postie. It's not cold enough to put on the woodburner though I am wearing an extra jumper. Sun is bright and the wind is sharp.
Glad to hear your mum enjoyed her visit Lainey. I'm thinking about TA and MrTA, hope they got on OK at hospital.0
