Is this a strange idea

In the last 10 years we have had 3 internal leaks of water. I am seriously thinking about getting a plumber to move the stopcock so we can easily turn it off and turn it off at night and when we go out. This will make any future floods low impact.
I know this sounds paranoid but :-
A) This has been expensive
Very inconvenient
C) We live in a "high flood" risk area so am worried we might not get insurance. (Actually we don't the river we are near is very very small and can expand 10x before it floods - I checked in the heavy rain 2 years ago and it was still 25% full but it still counts as high risk).

Have a look at this. It has a remote switch that allows you to turn off stop tap from up to 2 metres away. Might be a lot cheaper than having your incoming pipe moved.

Are you on a water meter? They are normally easily accessible and I always use the adjacent tap when I want to turn my water off.0

I did some plumbing work in a house with one fitted. It was an absolutes godsend., as the stopcock was inside a small and tightly packed vanitory unit.0

We have a surestop. I picked one up off Ebay for about £10 and fitted it just after the original brass stopcock (make sure you get one with the remote switch). It comes with about 6 foot of thin tube which push fits onto the switch. Very easy to fit and works a treat :-)
