We just need something similar in the UK although I think Carney will need to be dragged out of Threadneedle Street in a straitjacket before he agrees to put up UK base rates. He has never ever increase rates in all his years as a central banker here or in Canada.0 -

US dollar is the world's major trading currency. Many countries peg their own currencies against the greenback. If the US is paying more to borrow money then it will force others to monitor their interest rates as well.
Take a look at the impact of the f/ex markets .
