Today I couldn’t update my Win 7 as I got the code 80244019.
I went to https://appuals.com/windows-update-error-80244019/ and clicked on –
‘Microsoft has released a Fixit numbered 50202 for Resetting Update Components. Resetting, them usually fixes this issue on Windows 7. To run it click (here) to download the Fixit file, and run it. Accept the agreement and click Next, and put a check on Aggressive Mode, and then hit Next again. Wait for it to finish, once it finishes and the system has rebooted, check for updates again. If the issue still persists, move on to the next solution.’
Once I run it - Most recent check for updates – Never
Updates were installed – Never
When I clicked on ‘Check for updates’ is just keeps searching….
Then I installed ‘System Update Readiness Tool’ Win 7 32 bit.
Again when I clicked on it – ‘windows update standalone installer’ is just keeps searching for updates….
I don’t think it’s connecting to the windows update server (I may be wrong). I am just a layman in computers.
Need help and thank you

Shall I stop this now and do what you have advised?0 -
grumpycrab - thank you.
I unchecked 'products from microsoft update' this morning with the error code 80244019.
Windows Update is working but only for 'Windows only'
How do I get back 'For Windows and other products from Microsoft Update'?
I have Office 2010 installed.
Thank you0 -
Any help available?
This is what I get, I can't change from Windows Update to Microsoft Update.

A friend had a similar problem recently. (Honestly, I'm getting sick of these update failures, Microsoft!)
The solution was to try installing the latest version of Windows Update, then the following hotfixes (which are prerequisites for that version of Windows Update). N.B. This is for Windows 7 64-bit. I haven't checked whether different steps might be required for the 32-bit OS.
KB3020369
KB3050265
KB3065987-v2
KB3102810
KB3135445
KB3138612
KB3161664
KB3172605
In order to work round the failure of Windows Update, hotfixes have to be downloaded manually. Before installing a hotfix, run the following command at an elevated command prompt to stop the Windows Update service, which (paradoxically) means that the update will install correctly:net stop wuauserv
Hopefully that should fix the problem... for now...0 -

Thank you, would this rectify the problem.
I have Office 2010 installed and wish to change Windows Update to Microsoft Update. When I click on:

I get two graphics.
How can I find Microsoft Update to Update my Office 2010. I reinstalled Office 2010 but still the same.
Thanks0 -
Does it matter if my Office 2010 can't be updated through Windows/Microsoft Update?
I only receive updates for 'Windows Only'.0 -

Hard to say. I got a different error number, but I think the common issue where Windows Update sticks at 0% when trying to download is due to having incompatible versions of system files.
I found an article (can't find the link -- sorry) that said that installing the latest version of Windows Update along with the KB hotfixes I mentioned would fix these problems. And for me, it did. Try running the command I mentioned above before running the installer:
Click the Start menu, and type "cmd" into the search box. You should see the relevant icon appear in the search results. Right-click it and choose "Run as Administrator". At the prompt type this:net stop wuauserv
Then try installing the "System Update Readiness Tool" again:
32-bit: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=3132
64-bit: https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=20858
Next try the "Windows Update Troubleshooter":
https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/2714434
Then install the latest version of Windows Update:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/949104
And finally, each of the KB hotfixes I listed previously. You may well need to run the "net stop wuauserv" command before each one.
I can't guarantee that this will work, but I'd be cautiously optimistic.tazwhoever wrote: »Does it matter if my Office 2010 can't be updated through Windows/Microsoft Update?
I only receive updates for 'Windows Only'.
Once everything is working, I think there is an option in the "Windows Update" control panel where you can choose whether to download updates for Windows only or other programs (i.e. MS Office, etc.).0
