Just dialled a UK number from 1899's VoIP service and got the tariff announcement of 'One pence per minute'.
Seems a little crazy to me as from a landline it is still zero pence per minute.

It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)

That it does, yet the announcement states otherwise.
And 1899 website states:
The message played before each call is always correct. It is possible that the tariff message differs from the charges on our website or other publications due to special offers. In these cases, the free tariff message is always the correct tariff.
Though their sister service 18866 did make an error with the 30p/min announcement instead of 0p/min a few days back. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Yep, coming through as 1p per minute here too
Guess its back to using the landline to make my calls...they best stay free (with connection fee)0 -
Yep.... me too. Just got a 1p a minute cost message on 1899 via VOIP.
Well.... I thought it was too good to last! Might aswell pay sipgate for calls. Their call quality is more reliable. Oh well!
hmmmmmm...... after 18866 stopped VOIP calls it made me think of the future of 1899 too.0 -
the website's updated now, so it states 1p/min for VoIP calls. Still crazy though, cos you can call US/Canada/Ireland/Singapore for 0.5p/min, although their prices seem to clash in places:
On http://www.call1899.co.uk/voip.php it states Canada as 0.5p at the top right. On http://www.call1899.co.uk/voiprates.php it states the US as 0.5p but in the listing on the same page it states both Canada and US as 1p/min. Their webpages obviously aren't linked centrally, they must update everything by hand!
Shame it isn't free anymore but it was way too good to last very long. I enjoyed it while it lasted.0 -
