Switching Bank Accounts

Thanks to all who have replies to my original post. I am now more convinced that Halifax might be the right move for us. My current online bank have just announced that they are closing down all telephone contact with customers from February and so urgent problems will be dealt with over a secure online service. This may take a couple of days to resolve whereas it now takes a minute or two by 'phone. I believe this is makes good case to look at alternatives and after reading the above replies Halifax is certainly in the running.

Just to let all the above helpful responders know we have now switched to Halifax. The change over was seamless and smooth and their systems are so much easier to use than my old bank. Even a simple paying of a bill online was a nightmare with our old bank having to use their card machine which kept telling me I had entered the wrong numbers.
I needed to ring Halifax to check on a couple of items and found them so polite and helpful it was a pleasure to talk to them.
Overall we are delighted with the change, glad we ignored Trust Pilot (thanks to above replies) and very happy to receive £100 for changing.
