Sending Money Abroad

There are special problems with sending money to India, meaning that transfer brokers may be slower and more expensive than you would expect. My suggestion is to use the UK branch of an Indian bank: do a Google search using the letters NRI: this stands for Non-Resident Indian, and is what Indians use to refer to Indians living in the UK and elsewhere. Obviously there are many NRIs who send money to relatives at home, and these established services probably offer you the best value for money (service and price) available.
Last time I considered sending money to India I noted that ICICI offer this service from their London branch. The costs and other details given on their website looked favourable, but in fact I have not yet used them.
Alternatively, since your money will ultimately go to an account with HDFC (a major Indian bank) you might use their service from the UK. Their website offers money transfers from the UK: here is the link, but note that I have never used them and so cannot recommend this service.

However, in this case the transfer that the OP needs to make is to HDFC's USD account in New York, not to India. So there should be no problems apart from inclusion of the further credit details and identifying reference.Voyager2002 wrote: »There are special problems with sending money to India, meaning that transfer brokers may be slower and more expensive than you would expect.Evolution, not revolution0 -
No, the new instructions are now straight to the Hospital in India, it seems that everyone was having problems with the amount of instructions so they have simplified it0
