Magazine Subscription

I have found what appears to be a great deal on a kids' magazine subscription.

£1 for six issues and then £18.99 for every six issues after that.

I would like to sign up for the first six issues and then cancel my subscription (unless my daughters think it is the best thing in the world). Is it easy enough to do this without getting stung for the extra payments on direct debit? How far in advance would I have to try and cancel it?

(End 2021) - £131,215.25 DID IT!!!
(End 2022) - Target £116,213.81

  • Grr. I'm annoyed at myself now. I bought the six issues for £1 only to go looking for reviews on it. Found a better deal which lets you try the magazine for six issues before paying. Grr.

I've subscribed to a number of magazines this way and I get billed for the six issues, ahead of getting them so when I've wanted to cancel them, I've cancelled the direct debit. They get a notification and it ends pretty much with the last issue I've paid for.

Not sure if that subscription is with the same company but that's how I've always managed mine and not had any problems (nearly said 'not had any issues' but that would have been a bad joke!).
  • You say your house is worth £392,000 and you're kicking yourself over a £1??

Why do people drag up stuff from old threads that are irrelevant?

This is nothing to do with the OP's house price.

Hope your kids enjoy the magazines anyway Pollyanna. :)

Fair enough. Still, it's nothing to do with the subject of the original post.

Heehee, love the fact that someone tried to pull my signature apart.

Yes, my house is worth that much, but it's not like money in my pocket!

I'm a single mum with a house in the London Underground zones and my (two) mortgages do not mean that I am swanning about spending said £390 odd thousand pounds.

    Thanks for your input though.

And I'm sure my children will enjoy the magazines, thank you.

Why do people ask random questions on this board when they are more relevant to other parts of the site?

And why exactly do we all need to know about your house valuation?

You don't. The same way you don't need to know a lot of what people put in their signatures.

But I'm also on the mortgage free wannabe forum, and it's a big part of why I'm on this site. Trying to save money to overpay my mortgage.

But again, thanks for your input, haha!!
