  • I am miles and miles better today, i had to pay the ex 120 quid yesterday for a loan to get her off my neck. I was stressing like hell i would be going to Cyprus with very little spending money but thankfully i have a saviour lol

My aunt and uncle popped around earlier this morning and they have lent me some money till payday. They have lent me 100 quid, i have about another 60 in the bank and a few bits on ebay and i am waiting on about another 20 from surveys. My ex is a pain in the !!! with money but its done now. At least once the holidays done i have no ties to her.

Luckily the hols all inclusive but i did want to take my lad on a trip to a waterpark for the day.

I hope everyone has a lovely Friday.

You really shouldn't be bailing out and leaving you and your lad short for your holiday. Glad your aunt and uncle stepped in to help, but you shouldn't be in that position really.

It sounds like a really damaging relationship, so i'm sure you'll be glad of being able to cut ties when the holiday is over. I hope she doesn't try the same pressuring tactics on the money front while you're away.

  • She won't regarding money she is a pain in the preverbial but i am trying to make the best of a bad deal but it is nearly over.

Yeah i know i shouldnt re the loan we got abit short re the holiday in the past when we were trying to pay it off, a few bits of money that were expected didnt materialise or took longer than expected. So the net result was the ex took out a loan to pay the balance. I was paying half but when we split i got stuck with paying it all. I agreed just for the peace ie less hassle role on my August pay i will be up 190 per month.

Always best to build up from a good frame if you can.

Is it a cyclocross frame? Looks to be pretty sturdy (too sturdy to be a true roadie IYKWIM) and it's not got the same geometry as an all terrain frame... nice ;)

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

  • Yeah it is mate re cyclocross my mate bought one to build up but has just found out his missus is pregnant so he is selling it for 300. Its only being out the box twice lol.

Yeah thats the plan Uncannyscot with these you can set them up for either canti or discs, forks are 150 ish second hand, and i can get a shimano group set off chainreaction for 300 total. The rest i will just get a bit at a time, I am earning some bonuses now so by santy time it should be ready. I want something i can use on railway lines and roads and i will never be a true roady at 6foot plus tall i would look wrong weighing what roadies do.

Sounds like a solid plan mate and it will be a really nice bike when done.
Keep us updated with progress eh?
I'm looking to replace the hydraulic brakes (Levers and tubing) on my Cake 2 but my mate says to switch back to cables as they're easier to maintain... ach I'll maybe give em a try but I love the feel of the hydraulics and have got used to them...

  • I had nowt but grief with the disc brakes on my giant in the past. It was a mtb but i am not a fan of them, waste of weight and pointless definetly on a road or cyclocross bike.

I agree you can get a decent set of cantis for 50-60 quid.

Re brakes and hydraulic ones best i had were on my husky racing rig. Magura hydraulic vbrakes hs11's google them they were able to stop a team of 3 huskies, i did use them on bigger tesms but the brakes would lock and i would get dragged
