Privately selling a car question

So I've googled my query and can't seem to find the answer so hoping one of you knowledgeable lot can help?!
My brother bought a new car and is selling his old one privatley, however the car is now uninsured (expired midnight yesterday) but someone is interested in buying it and is going to view it tomorrow.
He Didn't get the chance today to call dvla and cancel road tax sue to work (doing it tomorrow as he's off).
Understandably the person may want to test drive it (he wants them to have their own insurance for this purpose - understandably) but will he have to insure it himself on the day insurance thing?
He didn't think there would be interest this quick (only advertised it last night) and it was going to cost him too much for a multi car insurance policy.
Any advice appreciated :-)

Yes.
The interested party will be (should be) covered to drive a vehicle that already has insurance.I don't like morning people. Or mornings. Or people.0 -

If they are not will they have to get such cover and if they did will brother still need to insure it to be passenger of test drive?0 -
The interested party should be able to prove he/she has adequate insurance. Most (not all) insurance policies offer third party only cover for driving other vehicles.
Yes, I believe your brother will need insurance for the other party's insurance to be valid.I don't like morning people. Or mornings. Or people.0 -
no point in cancelling tax until nearer the month end then do it online.0

The car your brother is selling needs to be insured and taxed or sorn'd and off the road.
Continuous insurance regs cover this.
It is possible to take a new annual policy out then cancel once the car is sold, this may work out cheaper than a temp policy.
Either get it insured or sorn'd. If it is sorn'd do not use it on the road.0 -
Most insurers will allow you to add your old car back onto the policy as a temporary additional vehicle for a nominal charge. In the past it has cost me about 12 for 2 weeks cover which is normally enough to sell the car. Has the added advantage you can keep driving the old car to keep it ticking over whilst trying to sell it.0

no point cancelling tax as said, but you don't need to anyway, soon as its sold it will be refunded and the new person will have to tax it0
